7a foods is owned by husband and wife team Daniel Sauer and Wenonah Madison Sauer.

Daniel Sauer graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in 1999.  Shortly thereafter, he headed to New York City to work at Oceana under Chef Rick Moonen.  The following Summer Dan found himself at La Cucina, a restaurant located in Edgartown, MA.  It was there that Wenonah met and worked with Dan for the first time.

One busy summer season completed, Dan returned to New York with Chef Marco Canora to open Tom Colicchio’s Craft restaurant.  While at Tom Colicchio’s Craft –winner of The James Beard Foundation’s 2001 Best New Restaurant – Dan quickly moved through the ranks.  When Canora departed Tom Colicchio’s Craft in November 2003 to found Hearth, Sauer was a natural candidate for Chef de Cuisine.  Hearth was also nominated for The James Beard Foundation’s Illy Best New Restaurant of the Year Award.

In 2005, Daniel and Wenonah returned to her hometown of Aquinnah, located on Martha’s Vineyard. Dan became the Chef at The Outermost Inn.  While at the Inn, Dan continued to design his menu around fresh and local ingredients.  He teamed up with local farms and fisherman to highlight local items on his seasonal menu.  During this time, Dan’s love for growing his own food increased.  He expanded the garden at the Inn to accommodate his restaurant kitchen.

In 2010, Dan and Wenonah launched 7a foods, springing out of a small farm, a table at the West Tisbury Farmers’ Market and and locally sourced dinners all over the island, often using produce from their own farm.  Each dinner menu was different and seasonally appropriate.  Each dinner was created as a one-time delicious meal in a unique setting.  Dan’s extensive experience in New York kitchens and his own garden makes for an amazing dining experience.  That tradition continues on Martha's Vineyard today, at 7a foods in West Tisbury.

7a foods is a true farm to take out restaurant serving breakfast and lunch- complete with baked goods, a daily frittata, farm fresh salads, hearty, delicious soups, artisan sandwiches and a variety of prepared foods.
